Camp Chef Smokers & Grills - Frequently Asked Questions

Discover the joy of cooking outdoors with a Camp Chef grill and smoker

1. How do I get my Camp chef smoker to smoke more?

For the first hour of the cook, keep your grill at a low temperature. This is the time when your meat will absorb the most NO molecules. You are sure to have a great smoke ring in the end if you are able to keep the heat low for the first hour.

2. How long does it take for this brand’s smoker to heat up?

It takes around 8 minutes for the grill to ignite the pellets. This refers to the startup process. From there, it will take 10-20 minutes to reach the desired temperature. The hotter the temperature, the longer it can take to heat up.

3. Can I use it indoors?

No. All our products have been safety tested and approved for outdoor use only. You wouldn’t want to cause aunty hazards by using it indoors.

4. Can I use another brand of pellets?

Yes. You can use any brand’s pellets. However, there are some flavours and brands that burn differently than others. Make sure you always use 100% all-natural wood pallets with no binders, additives, glue or corn.

5. Why is my grill fluctuating in temperature?

You don’t have to worry much about fluctuating temperatures. This variation is pretty normal and your grill will not have the exact temperature readout like an oven. At both the modes, high smoke, and low smoke, the grill is programmed to let the fame go out and give more smoke. There would be very little smoke if the Camp Chef smoker grill didn’t do this.
